Over the summer I got an email from Courtney asking about an engagement session. Her and her fiance Matt were both living in Iowa for school but are from Montana. She noticed I use to live there and connected immediately. I couldn’t wait to work with them. We decided on a Fall date and I’m so glad we did because the colors were so bold. The mix of green and golden leaves are my favorite. In Iowa the leaves usually start turning around October 9th but this year, it came early.
We started the session off on one of my favorite trails right outside Dubuque and then caught the sunset out at Park Farm Winery. The trees looking over the bluff were breathtaking. If you haven’t had a chance to eat, drink or enjoy the view out there, I highly recommend it. The one thing I love about photographing on the trails is that there is tree coverage on both sides and always a little shade. Great for photos.
Courtney and Matt kept their outfits very neutral and cozy. The first outfit was very casual with sweatshirts and jeans. Courtney had a burnt orange tank under her jacket that made for a little extra pop of color. The second outfit at the winery was a little more dressy. Courtney had a cotton, cream dress with some cute heels and Matt wore a half zip, brown sweater. Because there was so much color outside, I really wanted them to keep things simple and they did.
