On a beautiful fall day Joe and Amber gathered their loved ones for a magical day at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium. Light leaked through the floor to ceiling windows of the train depot, illuminating Joe’s nonstop smile and the sparkle in Amber’s eyes. Touches of red scattered across the room mimicking the loving crowd of friends and family. Personal readings and tears of joy made this ceremony one for the books. Amber’s sister officiated the ceremony and let this be a point of foreshadowing to their love story below!

And now the party.

These two brought together such a funny group of friends and family. Coming from all corners of the country, this crew seamlessly blended together as if they had known each other since birth. From dance battles to fist bumps they know how to get down to business and celebrate. And while this was a COVID courtship, their love story is just about perfect and truly modern. Joe and Amber swiped right and before they knew it they were dancing away at their COVID times wedding. I can’t think of anything more 2020 esque.

“We swiped right the morning of October 14th, and after a day of texting non-stop we decided to meet in person the very next day. Joe drove to Iowa City and we met for dinner at Orchard Green. On the way to the date I found out that my sister was Joe’s Cross Country coach at Alleman HS. I decided to have a little fun and freak him out by asking if I looked familiar, or “reminded him of anyone from his past”. Joe was taken aback to put it lightly. I asked if Joe ever had a coach Becker, to which he replied “Coach Rhonda!” I replied, “that’s my sister!”. Joe–“I’m on a date with Coach Rhonda’s sister!” We had some good laughs, a few glasses of wine and plate of charcuterie, or according to Joe
(char-CUT-erie), we were smitten. Our relationship quickly grew from there, and we continue to laugh…and drink wine!”
