ON THE RIVER ENGAGEMENT | DEREK + HANNA | IOWA WEDDING + ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER

Filed in: weddings

YOU GUYS, I’m heading into my THIRD YEAR of business and I can’t even tell you how excited I am. 2019 has been pretty stellar but I have a feeling 2020 is definitely going to exceed it. On the personal side, we are adding a new addition to our family (another boy) and my business continues to grow, HOLY CRAP (I know)!

ON TO TO THE GOOD STUFF!

This post is about FRIENDS TURNED INTO LOVERS.

Derek and Hanna are a country love song and rap song COMBINED. THEY WERE SO FUN TO PHOTOGRAPH! Derek has more jokes or one-liners than ANYONE I know and Hanna is sweeter than a Georgia peach. I literally didn’t stop laughing the entire session. I can only imagine what the wedding day is going to be like, ha!

I asked Hanna to share a little nugget about their love story. Take a peek below on how these two
ended up together.

“We both attended the same grade school and church so we knew each other while growing up. After grade school, we went to different middle schools and high schools. Towards the end of my high school career, I started hanging out with my cousin and his friends, and Derek is one of them. It wasn’t long after, that Derek and I became the best of friends and were always the life of the party. For at least a year before we started actually “dating”, I knew that he had a huge crush on me. We both didn’t want to commit to anything more because neither of us wanted to ruin our close friendship. One drunken night, after going to a concert at the Jones County Fair, we started talking about the feelings we had towards each other. After a long heartfelt conversation, we decided to give “dating” a shot. We promised each other that night that if it didn’t work out that we would still be good friends. 4 years later and here we are, a cozy home, 2 rambunctious dogs, great jobs and two loving and supportive families. Most of all, engaged and ready to start our lives together as husband and wife! I will say, no relationship is easy, but the love that we have for each other and how strong our friendship was, proved that we could make it work!

He is my rock and I wouldn’t want to have it any other way!”
